Head Coach
Effective January 25, 2010,Scott Williams began his duties as Marlins Head Coach.
Scott has a rich background as a successful Masters Head Coach. His recent experience and honors include:
- Head Swim Coach for UCLA Bruins Swim Team
- Head Swim Coach for Burlingame Aquatic Club (BAC)
- Head Swim Coach and Aquatics/Triathlon Sports Director of The Olympic Club
- 2004 United States Master Swimming (USMS) National Coach of the Year
- 2003 Pacific Masters Swimming (PMS) Coach of the Year
Scott was a four-year varsity swimmer at University of Georgia, before that was a high school champion and age group record holder. He still works out in the water in addition to biking and jogging.
Scott believes hands-on instructional-style of coaching best. That means he's likely to give you frequent stroke tips. (Not that you need any pointers, because surely by now your stroke is perfect.) But just in case, Scott may have some ideas for you. Scott believes every swimmer in the pool gets equal attention, not just the faster swimmers.
Scott's ideas for enhancing the Master's experience include: Supplement regular workouts with stroke and turn clinics, videotape our strokes, demonstrations by Olympic caliber swimmers, and whatever else helps. If you have suggestions or ideas, Scott is eager to hear them.
You can e-mail Scott at: Scott@MasterMarlins.org. His cell phone number is: (415) 816-8417
Assistant Coaches
The Marlins are very fortunate to have several assistant coaches, all of whom are highly qualified lifeguards and certified water rescuers. In addition, they are experienced swim competitors who direct spirited, challenging workouts for swimmers of all levels of ability.
One of our Assistant Coaches is Ashley Prosen, daughter of our own Dennis Prosen. Ashley is a December 2009 graduate of Fresno State University (where she majored in Kinesiology) and was an All-American swimmer at Burlingame High School. In addition, she coaches, teaches swimming, and life guards at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City and the Pacific Athletic Club in San Carlos. Ashley started coaching with the Marlins in January 2010.
Ashley expects to start Nursing School in a year or so.
